Question

I filed my taxes on paper due to fraud with my dependents. I mailed them in twice - most recent in Oct but it still shows on IRS they not filed. Anyone else? Timeline?

Someone else filed my dependents so I could not file electronically.  I sent the last time in Oct via certified mail but it still shows they have not been processed and IRS website says not to call due to covid.   Did anyone file on paper?  How long did it take?

The IRS is taking longer than usual to process paper tax returns. They are processing them in the order they are received and ask that you wait at least 4 weeks after you mail your return before looking up your refund at Where's My Refund?

Have you checked your status on the IRS Where's My Refund? tool? If so does it show any status? Sending a tax return in twice to the IRS could cause a delay also. Please see the following link for reasons a refund can take longer: Why do some refunds take longer than others?

You will need to speak with the IRS once they are accepting calls. How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?

Listen to each menu before making the selection.

First choose your language. Press 1 for English.

Then do NOT choose the first choice: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then press 3 "for all other questions."

Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent.
