I filed with TurboTax and owe bigtime. When will the balance reflect on the IRS site? Why can't I apply for a 180 day extension yet?

I took an age 59 1/2 withdrawal from my TSP and IRS held back 20%. It should have been more like 29%. I owe over $62,000 in taxes. We used the withdrawal to buy a new house and are currently selling the old house. I know we will have it sold in under a half year and just need an extension. I went onto the IRS site. My owed taxes still don't show after filing 12 days ago. Is this normal? When will the system allow me to request an extension? Can I do it all through the IRS online site, or do I need to call? If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.

If you have already filed your tax return, you can not request an extension. The extension extends your period to file your tax return but does not extend when you tax is due.

If you have already filed your taxes, you can set up installment payments directly with the IRS. You can apply for a payment plan (Form 9465) at the IRS Payment Plans and Installment Agreements website.
