You will enter this as you would a 1099-INT from a bank.

Once you have signed into your TurboTax Account (for TurboTax Online sign-in, click Here), select "Take Me To My Return" and type "1099-INT" in the search bar then select "jump to 1099-INT". TurboTax will guide you in entering this information

Alternatively, to enter this transaction in TurboTax Online (for TurboTax Online sign-in, click Here) or Desktop, please follow these steps:

  1. Once you are in your tax return, click on the “Federal Taxes” tab ("Personal" tab in TurboTax Home & Business)
  2. Next click on “Wages & Income” ("Personal Income" in TurboTax Home & Business)
  3. Next click on “I’ll choose what I work on” (jump to full list or see more income)
  4. Scroll down the screen until to come to the section “Interest and Dividends”
  5. Choose “ Interest on 1099-INT” and select “start’
  6. Select "I'll type it in myself"
  7. Enter the name of the bank (or the Treasury Department if that is the name listed), the amount of interest in box 1

My question was how to Create and File a 1099 for contractors, not how do I enter the 1099 in my personal tax return.

To e-file W-2, 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms, use TurboTax Quick Employer Forms.

  • Launch TurboTax Home & Business.

If you're already working on a tax return, you'll need to close it. Select New Tax Return from the File menu in the upper-left corner, then answer Yes to save the return you currently have open.

  • Select Start a New Return.
  • Select Prepare W-2s and 1099s for my employees or contractors.
  • Select Choose Desktop and follow the instructions.

Note: TurboTax Home & Business for Mac doesn't support the filing of W-2 and 1099 forms.
