I got charged for deluxe version even though I didn't need it.

Hello,

 

I had a very basic return this year and the automated system (the same one which fails to inform you that you can only file your state taxes if you pay TurboTax AFTER finishing your state return) upgraded me to deluxe without my consent or knowledge. When it was time to check out, I had no other option to select. 

 

If you advertise as free, there should be a way to use your product for free. Throw in all the predatory charges and hidden subscriptions (credit karma) you want, but don't falsely advertise a product that is impossible to qualify for.

They just did this to me too. I said no at least twice, and still got charged for it. I’m trying to get in contact for my money back. I never used it.

If you have been upgraded and didn't need it you can downgrade your TurboTax product.  Here is how.

I was charged for TurboTax Deluxe and two additional states, but I did not use or file anything through the Deluxe version. I did not intend to purchase this upgrade and was directed there by the program without clear indication that additional charges would apply.

  • I sent an email and was told my refund was denied. I have sent multiple other emails and no further explanation. After having a conversation over the phone they told me I should be able to receive a refund, but the email team and the refund form is not helpful at all. Please contact me back as soon as possible.
