I had a contractor remodel my bathroom. It was $6000. Do I need to provide him a 1099 for labor?

No.   If you are a business you would issue a 1099 to the contractor.  If you are just a homeowner who paid a contractor you do not issue a 1099 to them.   And....remodeling your own bathroom is not deductible on your tax return, but save your invoice/receipts for someday when you sell the house.

If you hired a contractor to remodel your bathroom for personal use (not as a business), you do not need to issue a 1099 form. The IRS requires 1099-NEC forms only when a business pays an independent contractor $6000 or more for services. Since this was a personal home project, you're not obligated to file a 1099 for the labor.

As the homeowner and the home is not used in a business or as a rental you do not and are not required to provide a Form 1099-NEC to the contractor who remodeled your bathroom.
