Question

I had a very small side gig, probably made less than $200 for the year. How do I report that? I have not received any documents from them?

What is the nature of the income?  Is there another party who needs to forward information to you?  Please clarify.

In TurboTax Online,

  • Report the self-employment activity at Federal / Income & Expenses / Your income and expenses.
  • Scroll down to Self-employment and click Show more on the right.
  • Click Start / Revisit to the right of Self-employment income and expenses.

The software will ask you questions to determine income and expenses to be reported.

This IRS publication states:

Generally, an amount included in your income is taxable unless it is specifically exempted by law. Income that is taxable must be reported on your return and is subject to tax. Income that is nontaxable may have to be shown on your tax return but is not taxable.
