Question

I had previously imported my E*Trade 1099-div. Then E*Trade issued a corrected 1099-div on 3/9/2023, which I am able to download from E*Trade as a PDF.

However, I cannot seem to import the corrected 1099-div.  I've tried deleting the previously imported forms, but when I go to E*Trade now, it imports the original and not the corrected 1099.  Any others having this issue with E*Trade this year?  Any suggestions to get the corrected form to import?  Thanks.

I've seen a couple others with the issue.

What they had to do was download the 1099-DIV,  (making sure the original was not being double-reported as two 1099-DIV forms)

.........and then just Edit it to enter in the corrected values they see on their separate PDF/paper download of the corrected form.

This actually makes sense.  A correction may not be incorporated into the upload/download function. Here are steps to delete your original Form 1099-DIV from your TurboTax file and manual entry for the corrected form so that your tax return can be filed with the final corrected numbers.

  • If you're using TurboTax Online software and need to delete a form, click here.
  • If you're using TurboTax CD\Download software and need to delete a form, click here.

Once your delete the original information/form please use the following function before entering your corrected form. First clear your cache and cookies. It handles many issues that seem nonsensical on a regular basis.

  • Close your TurboTax return first.

Watch to be sure you are selecting 'all time' as example.  Do not use selections like 'last hour' for those browsers that give  you options.

Next enter your corrected 1099-DIV.

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account and open (continue) your return
  2. Select Federal from the left menu, then Wages & Income
  3. Locate the section titled Investments & Savings and select Show More, > select Start or Revisit next to Dividends on 1099-DIV
  4. Select Okay! On the screen Time to kick off your investments! OR Yes on the screen Did you receive any dividend income? then Continue
    • If you see the screen Your investments & savings or Here's your 1099-DIV info, select Add investments or Add another 1099-DIV, then Continue
  5. Choose how you'd like to enter your 1099-DIV:
    • Do NOT select to import
    • Manually enter your form, select Change how I enter my form, select 1099-DIV, then Type it in myself on the following screen
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter the info from your 1099-DIV.
