Question

I had someone do my taxes last year and I mailed them through the post office on the last of days to do so but only got my state tax back... what to do this year

As far as this year, it is always better to e-file, if you can. It is safer, faster and more accurate than filing by mail.

 

For 2018, you can request your IRS transcript for 2018.

 

If they can't find any information for 2018 on your account, then they never received your 2018 tax return. In that case you can mail them another copy.

 

If they say they did send you a refund and you didn't get it, you can ask them to reissue the refund to you now.
