Question

I had to go back and do my 2016 return on the TurboTax software. I am done but can't figure out how to download the returns.

I am done with my federal and state returns, but do not have a printer. I need to download the returns. 2016-2018 were horrible years for me, as I lost my Mom and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I missed my 2016 return. Thank you for your help.

You can not use the online version of Turbotax to complete or file a prior year tax return. The online version is only for the current tax filing year, which was 2019 but is now closed permanently and forever effective Oct 15th, 2020.

You must use the CD version of the program that you physically install on your computer for each individual tax year you need to complete. Turbotax supports their sotware for the current tax filing year and three years back. You can purchase prior year's versions of TurboTax at https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

A quick check of that website shows that TurboTax is no longer supporting TurboTax 2016 at all. Apparently, that was removed on Oct 15th I presume, when the ability to e-file returns was turned off by the IRS.

When the desktop version, once you complete the return you can save it in PDF format and then print it elsewhere if you don't have a printer physically attached to your computer.

Thank you so much for replying and for your help. I was able to save my return as a PDF. 2016-2020 have been difficult years. I lost my Mom, to whom I was very close, and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I managed to file all of my returns, except for 2016, but took care that now.
