Question

I had to pay into federal and state last year. Where do i find the correct information to claim it in my taxes this year? Or can I?

You can deduct any state taxes (for any year) or state estimates actually paid in 2023 on your 2023 federal return if you itemize deductions. But just the tax, not interest. You can not deduct any back taxes on a state return.

There is no deduction for paying federal taxes. For federal purposes the state paid for 2023 in 2022 would be in the deduction section under taxes - schedule A. Your itemized deductions in total must exceed your standard deduction to be of any benefit. Only deluxe and above for online allows for itemized deductions.
