Question

I had two different occupations last year (not overlapping), and I am currently unemployed. What do I put for "occupation" line on tax return?

Unemployed. You use what is current as of the time of completed the return.

Okay, so do not put any of the occupations that I received my W-2s for last year, put "unemployed" for my current employment status? I spoke with someone on TurboTax and they asked if I can leave it blank? Is it better to leave it blank? I just want to make sure before I submit my return.

The occupation field on Form 1040 is mainly for informational purposes and doesn't affect your return.  It is perfectly acceptable to put either of the two occupations that you had during 2024 or use "unemployed" as the occupation since you don't currently have a job.  You should also be able to leave it blank if you choose.
