Question

I have 2 W2s from 2 different companies (yes, I changed a job in 2016 and both are NJ based). And each W2 has deducted FLI, NJ DI, and NJ UI/SWF/WF. Is it correct?

Am I supposed to pay NJ TAX for UI/SWF/WF, DI and FLI twice...just because I changed the job?

A new job is required to withhold FLI/ SDI/ SUI. It can't know if you already maxed out on these taxes, and couldn't choose not to withhold these taxes even if it did know. Each job must withhold based on your income.

If you have 2 or more employers, and you withheld more than the yearly max of the categories below, you are refunded the excess on your NJ tax return on Form NJ- 2450.

UI- $139

FLI- $26

DI-$65

If and when multiple employers exceed the cap above,Turbo Tax will complete Form NJ-2450 and add the excess to your NJ refund.

**Be sure to enter each of these taxes within Box 14 inside Turbo Tax, choosing the appropriate dropdown. If any are listed in Box 18-19, ignore that and input within Box 14.

There appears to be an issue with TurboTax 2016.  I have entered two W2 form for NJ, paid both FLI and WF/UI/S twice, but TurboTax does *not* complete NJ-2450 or even bring up this overpayment.  Someone at TT needs to look into this.
