Question

I have a full time job with an W2 and I did a extra job for $200 from which I did not get a W2 but got deductions. How can I enter this extra income?

You will enter the W-2 under Wages & Income.

You will enter the 200 cash as a Self-Employed Taxpayer.

As Self-Employed, you will be able to deduct expenses, but you will also need to pay Self-Employment (FICA) tax on any profit.

"If you worked and received cash, the IRS considers you self-employed.

The TurboTax products that support self-employed are:

To enter your income and expenses from your  self-employment income was only from cash or personal checks or credit card payments:

  • Type “Schedule C” in the Search box and then select the “Jump to” link.
  • This will take you to where you can enter any cash, personal checks or credit card payments (Form 1099-K) related to your self-employment.
  •  You may be asked some general questions about your business.
  •  After you answer them, you’ll be taken to the Your Business screen where you can enter this income as Additional Income under Business Income."
