Question

I have a pin from the IRS and it is a 6 digit number, but the turbotax space for the pin is only 5 digits. How do I enter the number?

You need to navigate to the "Federal" section in TurboTax, select "Other Tax Situations," then choose "Other Return Info" followed by "Identity Protection PIN." Click on "Add the PIN" and enter the six-digit PIN provided in the IRS notice.

Here is where and how it is entered in TurboTax online.

And here is the desktop version:

If the IRS has assigned a 6 digit identity protection pin, you need to enter both the IP pin and the 5 digit e-filing pin.
