Question

I have an hsa but I never used it do I still have to do a 1099 and do I still have to upgrade to delux?

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) and have received a form 1099-SA, you need to enter this form into TurboTax. The HSA may entitle you to tax deductions.

To enter the 1099-SA, click on Search on the top right of the screen and type HSA in the search box. In the search result box, click on "jump to hsa".

TurboTax Free Edition does not handle form 1099-SA. You need to upgrade to TurboTax Deluxe.
