Question

I have been separated from the man who is legally my husband for over 2 years. But I cannot get ahold of him for his social # how can I file without his social?

You can use the SSN placeholder of [social security number removed] but you will have to paper file.  If you have a child you can file as head of household and considered unmarried if you have not lived together in 2019.

You may even qualify if you have not lived with him for the last six months of the year and have a qualifying dependent. Please view this TurboTax FAQ for more information about the head of household filing status.
