Question

I have been unemployed throughout 2020; why am I being asked to enter Employer Information? What do I do here?

It the Payers TIN on your Form 1099-G Certain Government Payments.  If it's asking for a state identification number, enter the Payers TIN.

You are required to enter Form 1099-G, Certain Government Payments, on your income tax return. The form shows the amount of unemployment compensation paid to you during the year in Box 1, and any federal income tax withheld in Box 4.
