Why can't I file. My return is pretty basic but there is a problem with a 5329-T form. I paid but looks like it's in review. Does anyone know what to do?

Click Review to see if you are missing some forms needed in order to e-file.

Many federal and state forms are not yet available.  Check here for form availability. The dates are subject to change.

Tax form availability tool,

No hurry to e-file since the IRS will not begin to accept/reject 2023 e-files until January 29.   And….a state return cannot be accepted until after the IRS accepts your federal return.

5329 is the penalty form used to calculate penalties on excess contributions or early withdrawals from IRAs, other retirement plans, health savings accounts, and a few other things.  The -T means "taxpayer".  (If you are filing married filing jointly, -T means the first named taxpayer and -S means spouse.)

Do you have a situation involving penalties for excess contribution or early withdrawal?  Did you have such a situation last year that might require carryover to this year?
