Do you have a 1095-A?   If you do not have one, have you verified that there is not one available at the Marketplace website?   It is very important that you check with that website to confirm before you go any further.   Warning:  If there is a 1095-A out there and you take the steps below to file your return without it, you may receive a CP2000 from the IRS as well as a long delay in processing.    Once you have confirmed there is no 1095-A on file,

  • Try to delete the form and file again.
  • If it gets rejected after you have deleted the form, use the workaround steps below.

To (really) delete the form, you will revisit the section and answer YES when asked if you received a 1095-A.  This is just so you can see the form to delete it if it is stuck.

  1. Search for 1095-A or search for 1095-a and use the Jump to 1095-a link to be taken to the questions.

  2. Answer the question about unemployment and the next screen will show your 1095-A that was started.

  3. Use the Delete button or the trash can icon depending on your version to delete the form.

  4. Confirm the deletion.

In Forms Mode, (desktop software) or click on Tax Tools (left side menu) >>> Tools >>> Delete a form in TurboTax Online.   Verify there are no 1095-A or 8962 forms in the list to delete.   If so, delete them.

Resubmit your return for e-filing.

If it gets rejected yet again, use the workaround below.   This will not affect anything on your return, but having the form there allows the IRS to accept your return.   Workaround steps:

  1. Search for 1095-A, use the Jump to 1095-A link.
  2. Answer the unemployment question.
  3. You will be asked if you received a 1095-A, click YES.
  4. Enter all zeros for the Marketplace identifier and Policy number.
  5. On the January row, enter a 1 into columns A and B; enter a 0 in column C - leave Feb-Dec all blank.
  6. Resubmit your return.
