Solved

I have misc. income reported on1099-MISC that is related to my pension. However, I am retired and did no work to receive this. TT keeps wanting me to enter this as work. How can I get around that?

Since the 1099-MISC is not a business, you have to mark:

    •  no intent to earn money
    • mark that the income is only for this tax year, 2023 .

Otherwise the program will think it is recurring income and a business.

I was in the same boat with a benefit listed on a 1099-MISC form.  I selected "this was a manufacturer's incentive payment."  This did not generate a slew of unrelated questions or forms and included it as income.

INTUIT:  TurboTax needs an option for 1099-MISC to include "Benefits provided by current or previous employer. " Selecting Other generates a number of screens totally unrelated as no work was performed.
