Question

I have P60 not a W2, how do I enter the income. All my income is from UK, where I pay taxes, and file taxes.

To enter your income from a foreign employer follow these steps:

How to enter Foreign Income

• Go to Federal Taxes

• Select Wages & Income

• Click I'll choose what I work on

• Scroll down the page to the last section Less Common Income and select Show More

• Select Start to the right of Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion

• Go through this section and enter the income that you earned abroad.

But I already paid taxes on this income. I don't see anywhere to put those taxes. I am getting taxed like that income was untaxed.

Are you looking for the Foreign Tax Credit section (Form 1116?)    If so,  and if you are using manual navigation, then in the left menu column under the Federal tab then subtab "Deductions & Credits" then topic "Estimates and Other Taxes Paid" then when that topic is expanded, subtopic "Foreign Tax Credit."  Here are 2 alternative shortcut ways to get there if you are using Online TurboTax:

  • With your Online return open, click at the top right on the search icon (magnifying glass.)
  • In the search box enter foreign tax credit without quotes, then click the adjacent magnifying glass.
  • You should then see a blue link jump to foreign tax credit  Click it.
  • The next screen should be Foreign Taxes.

Or here's another way:

  • With your online return open, go to the left column menu and click on TOOLS, then TAX TOOLS.
  • In the Tools popup choose the blue button TOPIC SEARCH.
  • In the search line enter foreign tax credit without quotes.
  • Then in the results list choose foreign tax credit, and either double-click it, or highlight it and click GO.
  • The next screen should be Foreign Taxes.
