I have the CD version of TurboTax 2021 Home and Business. When I click on State, it gets stuck in an endless loop. Can't work on my state return.

What do you do about the State update loop?

Hi. Nope won't work. Call support and ask to speak to supervisor. The other consultants are very nice and they try but they do not have access to the 2021 fix. It is the only way you are going to get it. Mine was fixed with that upload but you need a supervisor.  Good luck

I had already found this link, but it only gives you the option to remove state for 2020, not 2021.

I have the same issue but with the Premier download for windows. So if I call back again since the reps I spoke with this evening were not helpful- ask for a supervisor to send me a download of the state? If using it on my desktop, then I can just load it in somehow to run with the federal information?? 
plus - I don’t log into anything. I have the license number - so want to make sure I can get it to run.

The problem has been resolved, and I'm remiss in not reporting the solution.  My bad!  If you search around, you will find a separate TurboTax support section devoted to state problems with an 800 number.  I contacted them, and the final solution (after trying several things)  was for me to uninstall the software, then the agent created a dummy invoice for me at $0 and downloaded an entirely new copy of the software, including New York State.  Installed that and it worked fine.  Both my federal and NY State have been accepted.  Total time on the phone - about 90 minutes.

I'm really disappointed in TurboTax!  This state looping issue has been around for years, and their July 2021 solution for TY 2020 does not work for TY2921.  I doubt I will continue as a TurboTax client, though I've been using them for about 10 years!

Thank you so much for everyone’s input.  My issue has been resolved, but not until speaking with 3 reps - the last rep researched it enough to find these directions - it worked for me with downloaded the clean states file.
