Question

I have to upgrade to the deluxe version to file for self-employment. Just the other day, the options were cheaper. Is there any way to get this deal still?

Sorry but TT doesn't do any price reductions once they are raised and if you need to enter any expenses for the SE income you will need to upgrade all the way up  to the SE version.

Be aware that  the online TurboTax Free Edition is very limited to only simple returns--so be careful----if your return requires any of the schedules or extra forms then an upgrade to a paid version will be required.   https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

There are still eight various software providers who will participate in the Free File program ...

Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free:

What deal did you see?  The early prices usually don't expire until March 1.   It also shows you are in the LIVE expert help version for a higher cost.  You can delete that.

You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version or use any of the Desktop CD/Download programs.
