I help my mom who doesn't work due to chronic illness. I only help her with about $200-$300 a month. Can I claim her as a dependent

No.   If you are paying only between $200-$300 per month you are not paying over half your mother's support.  You cannot claim her as a dependent.  But is kind and generous that you help her out.
