Question

I keep getting rejected because it says I am filed as a independent for 2020 when I am not. How do I fix this problem?

If you're in fact a depended of someone else, and you didn't indicate it in your return, it is easy to fix - just change your answer in your personal information section. You'll be able to receive part or all your taxes which you paid in the year back, but no tax credits will be allowed.

If you aren't a dependent, and your return got rejected, it means someone already claimed you as a dependent this year and you cannot e-file your return. You'll need to print it and mail it to the IRS. It will take time to resolve.
