I'm almost done filing for my taxes but I feel like I miss something I received more on my return you last year then this year but I made more this year can you assist me

Under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), federal income tax rates were reduced. If you didn't change your payroll W-4 withholding form, you got less taxes taken out of your paycheck versus 2017 and that is why it seems like you got a bigger refund. In 2018, you got more money in your paycheck. 

  • We still have 7 federal tax brackets (same as 2017), but most taxpayers will get a lower tax bracket when compared to 2017.
  • Compare your 2017 and 2018 W-2 Box 2, federal income tax.
