Question

I'm an Uber driver, and didn't get a 1099-MISC, just a summary sheet listing my earnings for the year. It even says "this is not an official tax document". What do I do?

Turboxtax is asking for the amounts listed in "Box 3", "Box 4", "Box 7", etc, but there are no boxes in the form that Uber gave me. Only the summary of how much money I made, and how much Uber collected in expenses, fees, and taxes.

To start your business filing, do a Search (upper right) for schedule c and click on the jump-to link (Max users, find schedule c in the Topic List and click on that).

Edit your business (or click the Add a Business button if you haven't started it yet).

One of the sections is Business Income. Click on that, then click on General Income. Here is where you can enter your gross income from Uber. That is, you don't have to have a 1099-MISC to report this income.

Then, in the Business Expenses section, you will enter the various amounts that Uber deducted, like fees and taxes.

In this way, you will be paying taxes only on the net amount, not the gross amount.

Don't forget to enter your other expenses at the same time.
