Question

I'm getting Smart check errors that are incorrect (e.g., I sold a rental property along with some depreciable assets, and Smart check says that the prior depreciation exceeds the purchase price, which is wrong). Can I override them so I can efile?

You cannot e-file a return that has overrides.  You can delete the entries and try entering them again.  It is possible that there is a mistake on a number or that the system is not reading a number correctly.

But TurboTax is flagging as "errors" its own data entries, not mine.  For example, Turbotax states for several of the assets that the "Asset class is incorrect," even though Turbotax determined the asset class when I put the assets into service years ago.  And it was TurboTax, not me that calculated the depreciation that Turbotax now states is "too large."  Can I fix these problems or do I need to paper file?

Make the changes needed in the associated interview, no as overrides to the form.
