I'm helping my brother with his taxes and he tells me he didn't file for 2020. How do we file for 2020?

Yes. You can file now for tax year 2020. There is no penalty if your brother is due a refund. On the other hand, if he owes tax for 2020, there will be penalties.

 

You cannot use TurboTax Online to file a prior year tax return. TurboTax Online is for the current year's tax return only which is tax year 2021.

 

To file a 2020 tax return, you'll need to purchase and download that year's TurboTax software for PC or Mac.
