Question

I'm trying to add my info for Self Employment, but nothing will save after completely each step. Anyone else have this problem? I've tried in different browsers.

Please try to enter your 1099-NEC separately on the appropriate screens and the income will then flow to your Schedule C.

To input your 1099-NEC's, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Search for 1099-NEC with the magnifying glass tool at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the Jump to 1099-NEC link at the top of the search results.
  4. Click Add a 1099-NEC.
  5. Enter the information as shown on your form.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. On the page titled Guess what? You can deduct expenses for the example work choose Yes, I have expenses to deduct.
  8. On the page titled Self-employed 1099-NEC Income select the Schedule C you are inputting this income for. If this is a new Schedule C for this year, you can add a new business on this screen.

Then, your 1099-NEC should flow through to your Schedule C.

To get to your Schedule C in order to review or enter your expenses, you may use the following shortcut in TurboTax:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Search for Sch C with the magnifying glass tool at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the Jump to Sch C link at the top of the search results.
  4. On the page titled Your 2021 self-employed work summary, you should see your 1099-NEC's listed with the corresponding amount.
  5. Click review next to the income from your 1099-NEC.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions on the following pages.

@LenaH Clicking on jump to 1099-NEC takes me to the documents upload section. There is nothing specific about entering 1099-NEC manually here.  I tried uploading the form here and it's still not showing up under self employment.

A suggestion to try would be close out of your return and come back in to the return and then try searching for 1099-NEC again click the Jump to.   You should come to a screen that asks Did you get a 1099-NEC answer yes.  The next screen will ask Do you want to enter your 1099-NEC and answer yes.  Then you will be asked questions about the 1099-NEC.

These instructions are by testing the steps in the online version.   The steps should also work in desktop.

See if this helps you.   If not, reply back with what happens and we can see if we can find another solution.
