I'm being asked for his 2018 PIN.  How do I get it?

To find your dad's Adjusted Gross Income AGI from last year, please follow these instructions:

If he filed the last year 2018 tax return and had a copy of the tax forms, you may locate the amounts on line 7 on his2018 Form 1040 or line 35 on 2018 Form 1040-NR if applies to him.

If he used TurboTax online to file, you can access his account here Login and download a copy of his prior year’s 1040 tax return to find his AGI.  Click here for instructions: Prior year's return

If you do not have a copy of the tax forms, you may order a transcript from the IRS.  Click here Get  Transcript and select  "Get Transcript Online "  On the transcript, look under section "Adjustment to Income" and find the amount for Adjusted Gross Income.

I have a copy of his 2018 return, and used it to fill in the AGI.  The 2019 return has been rejected because of the PIN associated with the return that I've prepared.  It's asking for the 2018 PIN.  How do I get the 2018 PIN?

The 2018 PIN was a 5-digit number that your father created. There is not a way that you are able to obtain the PIN. You will need to mail in the 2019 return.

If the return is showing that you he is receiving a refund you will need to include Form 1310 on the return.

To enter the Form 1310, you should:

    • Enter form 1310 in the Search Magnifying Glass in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
    • Select Jump to form 1310.
    • Answer the questions on the screens.
