Question

I’m trying to file my unemployment but they ask for the EIN and I don’t know where to find it. I’ve tried federal id number and it says they cannot accept it.

Unemployment benefits are reported on form 1099-G.

On your form 1099-G, the payer's EIN is in a box labelled Payer's TIN (or Federal ID in some cases). It is 9-digit number in the format xx-xxxxxxx

You may be entering it in the wrong place.  Go to Federal >Wages and Income >Unemployment Comp..
