After you delete the Form 6251 as you did before, you clear you cache and cookies. Sometime residual information remains on the system. To clear cache, click here: Cache.

Log off and log back into the TurboTax software.

The Alternative Minimum Tax is automatically calculated depending on the information on your return. If you are required to file Form 6251, the software will keep it on the return no matter how many times you delete the form.

Thanks - I tried that but now have a new problem. I was trying to figure out what was going on and clicked "Upgrade" but as mentioned in the prior post, don't need the paid version. However every time I go to file... it isn't giving me the option to file for free. Feel like I'm being forced to buy  a service I don't need...

Once you upgrade in TurboTax, there is no way to reverse that without clearing your return and starting over, as follows:

1. Look for the "Tax Tools" option on your left menu bar in TurboTax and click on it

2. Find the "Tools" option and click on it

3. Look for "Clear & Start Over " in the menu of options and click on that option to start your return over
