Hi!

My situation is a bit tangled so please bear with me.

I moved out of the US at the end of 2020 and began working from my new home in Mexico (I was still employed by US based company). I am not a US citizen and I had a valid TN Visa up until 2021's first trimester, when I was laid off at the end of March 2021.

I paid taxes from that period at the beginning of this current year and got my refund as expected.

My question is as follows:

If I didn't work for any US based company in 2022, do I need to declare and/or pay any dues to the IRS??

Thanks in advance,

Javier G.

You had no nexus with the United States for tax purposes in 2022.

You were not a remote worker for a US company during 2022.

You were not resident in the United States during 2022.

You are not a US citizen.

I assume you had no US source income in 2022.

There is no need to file any paper work with the IRS for 2022 since you have no income to report.

As we say in Texas, buenas noches and sleep well.
