Question

I need to adjust my withholding going into 2024- Married, filing jointly with one dependent over 17 and 2 jobs- should I be at 3 for allowances?

I haven't updated since 2019 at which time we had 2 dependent children and one job, so we had 5 allowances.

The new W-4 form doesn't use allowances anymore. The new form works differently. Use the Tax Withholding Estimator on the IRS web site to figure out what to put on your W-4 form. It will show you how to adjust your withholding to get the approximate refund amount that you want.
