You cannot enter bank account information on a Federal tax return if you are not receiving a federal tax refund or you do not have federal taxes owed.

If you are receiving Social Security Disability benefits there is no reason to file a tax return for the third stimulus payment.

Use the IRS get my payment website starting on Monday 03/15 - https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment

Your payment information cannot be changed.

The bank account information in Get My Payment came from one of the following sources:

  • Your 2019 tax return,
  • Information you entered on your non-filer registration in 2020,
  • Information you entered on Get My Payment before December 22, 2020, or
  • A federal agency that provides you benefits: This may include the Social Security Administration, Veteran Affairs, or the Railroad Retirement Board.

In some cases, your payment may have been sent to the temporary bank account established when you filed your 2019 tax return. The IRS and tax industry partners took steps to redirect stimulus payments to the correct account for those affected.

If you did not file a tax return and you receive SSA, RRB, SSI or VA benefits and your benefits are currently deposited to a Direct Express card, then your 2021 Economic Impact Payment will be deposited to that card. The bank information shown in Get My Payment will be a number associated with your Direct Express card and may be a number you don’t recognize.
