Question

I over paid the amount I owed for taxes this year. What form do I file to get back that back? The overpayment wasn’t from prepaying taxes. The amount owed was sent twice.

I filed an amendment and paid the taxes owed. When I went to pay state taxes TurboTax sent payment for both federal and state so I paid Federal taxes twice.

    Check your IRS account to check to see if there's an overpayment.   Refer to the IRS website Your Online Account and  Here’s how individual taxpayers can view their tax account info  for more information.
