I owed state taxes (for two states!) it was supposed to come out of my account that I have set up. It hasn’t. Where do I look to make sure this was set up correctly?

TurboTax asked if I wanted to use the account I have set up for my federal refund, I said yes, but it hasn’t come out today. It is a lot of money because my company’s payroll company failed to take it out for the whole year. They said I had my state withholding status as exempt which is crazy. I haven’t used exempt since I was in high school. I owe the state thousands. Also it mentioned I have a penalty, but I don’t see where that is. I filed April 6.

If you are referring to a direct debit from your account, as long as you filed your taxes or extension before the due date (April 15, 2025), and scheduled your direct debit, there's nothing to worry about. the IRS or your state may not be able to debit your payment until after the deadline, due to high e-filing volume. Also, it can take your bank another few days to post the debit to your account.
