I paid $950 to the Treasury dept. on 7/15/20 and asked for an extension. Now that I’m filing my taxes when will they apply that $950?

Make sure when you are filing your taxes now, you list the payment you made on 07/15/20 in the tax payments made section of your return. You will receive credit for this payment on your return when you submit it. You enter it on the Deductions & Credits Screen under Estimates and Other Taxes Paid: Estimates. Hope that helps. When you requested your extension you were supposed to pay your estimated tax due. Did you enter the payment you made into your tax return? Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes
