Question

I paid all fees when I filed with turbo tax. My tax return was delayed by IRS for an id process, handled promptly and IRS accepted my return. It was short $37.28. Why?

My refund was $37.28 less than the return showed. Was this an IRS adjustment or was my $288.10 payment not enough to Intuit?

If you did not use "refund processing" and pay your fees from your federal refund via the third party bank, the shortage in your refund has nothing to do with Intuit or TurboTax fees.   The IRS must have reduced your refund and will send you a letter to explain.

Even though you had a refund is there a penalty on your 1040 line 38?  The IRS may have increased it.   If the IRS adjusted your return they will mail you a letter.

Did you have a state return?  Federal and state are completely separate but at the end Turbo Tax shows you the federal and state combined.
