The tax you pay in is a down payment on your actual income tax. When you prepare your tax return, your tax is calculated based on your income and tax deductions. When you finish entering everything in TuboTax, your final tax is calculated and the money you paid in ($1,814 in this case) is subtracted from your tax and you get a refund or have to pay in the difference.

You can look at your tax return summary in TurboTax by following these steps:

1. Find the "Tax Tools" option on your left menu bar and click on it

2. Click on "Tools"

3. Click on "View Tax Summary"

You will see a list of your income, deductions and credits. You should compare these amounts to your tax statements for the current year (W-2 form, 1099 forms, etc) to see if you entered everything correctly. You can also compare your tax summary with your tax return from the previous year to see if everything looks correct.

You can also contact us for a review of your tax return if you used the "TurboTax Live" optional feature when choosing your TurboTax product. Just click on the  "Live Help" icon on your TurboTax screen.
