Question

I qualified but did not receive the California Golden State Stimulus 2 of $600. Where may I record this? I read a few times this could be addressed on this tax return.

No, Unlike the third federal stimulus payment, the Golden State Stimulus II is not added to your California income tax return.

If you did not file an original or amended 2020 return by October 15, 2021 then you are not eligible for GSS II.

Thanks, Ernie. I had filed far before the deadline but just didn't get the $600 stimulus. There were a few articles that like the federal stimulus, there would also be a place on state return to claim unreceived state stimulus. I have not been able to get ahold of anyone from the FTB and was hoping to be able to claim the credit on state taxes instead.

No. California did not include an option to have the Golden State stimulus added to the state refund unlike the federal.

Filing a tax return with CalEITC just let's the state know you are potentially eligible for the stimulus. That's all it does.

It's good you beat the deadline.

If you believe you have qualified for the Golden State Stimulus, but have not received the payment through no fault of your own, you can contact the CFTB.

@Curtsmash89  You added on to someone else's thread about the Golden State Stimulus, but you are asking about an amended return.  Do you mean an amended federal tax return?  Or do you mean you amended your CA return?

If you mean you amended your federal return:

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return.  During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six to nine  months or more for many amended returns.  Do not expect quick results from amending.  When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check.  They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns.  You can watch for information here:

https://www.irs.gov/Filing/Individuals/Amended-Returns-(Form-1040-X)/Wheres-My-Amended-Return-1

If you mean you amended your state return, check with your state.
