Question

I rec'd a 1099-MISC from my wife's employer in 2018. I was paid her accrued vacation & final paycheck (she passed in 2017). Where on the return does that get reported?

The income reported in shown only in box 3. Turbo-tax is asking where on the return to show the Misc. Income. The options like schedule c or f don't apply.

This amount has to be reported as Other Income on line 21 on Schedule 1 of your form 1040. It is not subject to self-employment tax.

This is how to enter your form 1099-MISC in TurboTax.

In TurboTax, enter your form 1099-MISC and follow the interview until you arrive at the page titled Did this involve an intent to earn money?. Answer that this did not involve an intent to earn money. The amount will be reported as Miscellaneous income and will not be subject to Self-employment tax.

Say that you only receive the 1099-MISC only in 2018, not in previous years and not in 2019.
