You must enter the income on your tax return. Whether you enter it as self employment income or as other income depends on the nature of what you did.  Here are some guidelines from the IRS:

The IRS defines self-employment work as:
· Selling goods or performing a service on a continual basis; "continual basis" could mean daily, once a month or even once a year.
· Side work you did using your trade or regular "day job" profession; even if you only did the work one-time for a friend.

The definition of Self-Employment is very broad, and includes many activities. The main definition centers on frequency, intent to earn income, and profession.

If it is considered self employment income, you enter it in the Self Employed section and create a business with your name and Social Security Number.

If it is considered other income, you enter it in Personal Income under Other Common Income.
