I received a Maryland Higher Education Tax Credit of 1,000. When I entered my 2nd W2, my state return dropped to below 1,000. How am I receiving my MHEC credit?

The credit will be subtracted from your state income tax liability. When your entered your 2nd W-2 form, your state tax liability must have went up more than the amount of your credit.

You can see a summary of your state tax return in TurboTax by following these steps, while in your state tax program:

1. Find the "Tax Tools" option on your left menu bar and click on it

2. Click on "Tools"

3. Click on "View Tax Summary"

If you look at "Total Credits" you should see your MHEC credit listed there.
