Question

I received two 1098 forms from different financial institutions, but one states that its needs review

The first 1098 is from the institution that I secured my loan through, but it doesn't contain all the information that the second 1098 (the institution who purchased my loan) contains. So my first Form 1098 says that it needs review, but I don't know exactly what information to enter to continue.

On your form 1098, boxes 1 - 6 are the only.  Those would be the boxes to check first.  If there isn't anything in those boxes you do not need the form and you can delete it.

You can also combine it into one 1098 by adding the original to the second 1098.  Do not combine box 2 Outstanding Mortgage Principal.  This would result in doubling your outstanding mortgage.
