I started a return using a download but want to switch to online so it lets me paste passwords. Can that be done? How?

No. But you can start a new online return and enter everything again. What passwords do you need to paste? Like to import 1099 forms? I suppose you could start over in the Online version fill it out and then move it to your desktop program to finish and file. Then you don't have to pay for Online.
