It is much too early to file a 2020 tax return. The IRS will not accept returns for e-filing until January 27 at the earliest. TurboTax will accept files beginning January 7 but they will be held in cold storage until the IRS opens their e-filing program. Many forms and sections of the program are not ready yet, due to recent and last-minute changes in the tax laws including both coronavirus relief programs. Depending on your specific needs, you may not be able to file until February or even March, if the forms you need are delayed by the IRS.
