Question

I unfortunately owe this year, and i am trying to fund out if I e-file, do I have to pay immediately or can I set up payments with the IRS?

This is the first time in my adult life that I will owe due to getting a good job, and all of a sudden I am in a different tax bracket.

Go to this IRS website for an online payment agreement - https://www.irs.gov/payments/online-payment-agreement-application

Note that even with a payment agreement, if you do not pay the full amount of the federal taxes owed on or before April 18, 2022 the IRS will still assess a failure to pay penalty which will be included as part of your payment plan.

If you do set up a payment plan, in TurboTax when asked how you are going to pay the taxes owed choose the option to mail a check and then e-file your tax return.  Just do not mail a check.

if you have the money to pay the entire balance by 4/18/2022. you can set up a payment through IRS Direct Pay - use bank account there is no fee. use debit or credit card there's a fee

you should not owe money on Tax Day.

You file a W-4 with your employer to avoid having to pay on Tax Day.

The year 2022 is one fourth over already.
