I want to add my husband as a dependent since he was a full time student and jobless for a whole year.

He did receive his W2 since he got a paycheck in January for his work in December 2015.

A spouse can never be a dependent.  The two of you should file a joint return using the Married Filing Jointly filing status. This is one tax return covering the income and deductions for both of you.  In this return, you will get two personal exemptions each of $4,050 to reduce your taxable income which is the same as if you claimed a dependent.
